Whoop 5/MG issues and how to get them addressed

That’s awesome if it works for you. May I ask what kind of sports you’re doing? Just curious. Maybe it depends on the sports

This is good news. So you do not see strange HR spike during exercise or simple tasks like showering? I want Whoop MG to work but when the HR monitor appears to not be working properly, my stats are all over the place. I get huge Spikes in HRV which drives my Average up and then when back to normal recovery is in the red.

If you are not seeing these things then maybe there is a bad batch of devices out there.

I wish there were more people commenting on a good experience but I understand that if you have no problems there is nothing to discuss

I think the biggest issue a lot of us are experiencing, that Whoop are not listening, You’re not wearing it tight enough, it’s in the wrong position, it’s moving during exercise etc. We didn’t buy a whoop and expensive subscription so we can spend hours a day on here trying to get answers to problems. They wont even offer us a refund.

Glad it works for you, unfortunately it’s been a huge let down for me. Keep us posted if you see any of the problems listed.

I briefly saw your post before admin hide it. My opinion is Whoop works great as a health monitor and this seems to be what you are using it for. But whoop positions itself as a Sport Orientated device to help improve performance. With the integration of ECG and BP monitoring it would seem they are moving more to health type of band. This is not what I am looking for.

Sad that his post is gone. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to see what he wrote

+1 to the thread. Seeing the same manual sleep issues and incorrect date issues. Didn’t realize I needed to avoid firmware updates with Whoop. Guess I’ll be delaying those in the future until the bugs are worked out. Didn’t expect to be a Beta user. Disappointing.

My firmware lists 50.33.2.0

Same here, I got it a few days ago. What I have noticed is the roll out is not all at the same time, they selectively send out firmware updates in groups. This really makes me suspicions that they are concerned firmware changes are causing problems and allowing it to go through slowly gives them time to stop everyone being affected by bad code. But this does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling that they confident in there firmware release.

I agree with so many. I have sought advice from support but none have worked. The data is so inconsistent and unreal. My last ditch attempt was to maybe switch to bicep band and of course it is out of stock. I finally decided yesterday that the frustration of dealing with this isnt worth it so it is now in a drawer. I plan to cancel contract shortly. Any other device at this point has to be better

I hope they see this Post and start to hand out refunds for those that want them or at the very least come up with a firm plan to address the issues and add some extra months for the instability of the device. They must know if they are monitoring their own community. The silence is deafening

Driven to this because of poor support/addressing issues :worried:

Hey @AlanGooner - thanks for taking the time to share what’s been going on. We know it’s frustrating to keep running into the same issues, and really appreciate you being open about it here.

We’d love to set up a chat between you and a senior member of our Product team. It’s a chance for us to hear directly from you about your experience, and for you to get some insight into what we’re working on behind the scenes. We’ll follow up with a DM to coordinate if you’re interested.

For anyone else in the Community, if you’re dealing with an issue and haven’t already reached out to Membership Services, the quickest way to get one-on-one help is by emailing support@whoop.com. They can dig into your account and get you sorted.

And while we can’t do one-on-one meetings with everyone, we do want to keep hearing from as many of you as possible. If you’ve got feedback you’d like to talk through live with a member of the team, just drop a note in this thread to let us know.

Hello Evan,

Yes I’ll join in for a face to face meeting. I would love to share what I am seeing. I know I have been outspoken but a lot of us are struggling and it seemed the only way to get noticed was to keep on at it. I so want Whoop to work but my experience has been painful. Mostly issues are HRV spikes and even when moving the band to my Bicep I get good days and then terrible days. I am 64 and I doubt I can get anywhere near to the 207bpm’s reported.

I’ll look out for a DM. I happen to be on vacation this and next week so can join before my bike ride or after. I’m in CT so same time zone as Boston

Do something about the heart rate problems that are known for a long time. Or give a refund. I’m dealing with support but it seems they just put you on hold. Nothing happens. We pay a lot of money for inaccurate data.

Hello Evan

I have written my problem with High HRV in this post. I think we understand, that you do not have opportunity for 1-to-1 meeting with everyone. I think for most of us will be enough if Whoop team will:

  1. confirm known problems.
  2. provide roadmap of solving problem.
  3. refund money or provide free month for those who faced the problems.
  4. give extra bonus for active community contributors.

As for me, I am ready to install beta firmware builds in order to resolve problems as soon as possible. However, I would like this process will be transparent.

I moved from the wrist to the bizeps band. Now sleep tracking is not working at all. It records the time as sleep when i am relaxing on the sofa reading a book. Annoying. Even my 100 Euro Amazfit Helio Band measures exactly…

Yes, they are helpful, and I feel for them. I today requested a whoop 4 be provided until all these issues are resolved. Not a single issue with my 4, which I have gifted to a family member , who is happily using with zero issues. Unlike my 5 that has got so bad I have completely lost faith and feel like throwing against the wall weekly .. thinking of looking at options elsewhere..which is so sad given how much of a fan I have been until the 5 release.

I’ve been reading through all of these posts and while it’s discouraging to see that so many are having these issues thus causing me to doubt the product, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one dealing with problems. I upgraded to 5.0 from 4.0 a few weeks ago and the experience has not been great. I’ve noticed that the heart rate readings are consistently off during workouts. I always wear the bicep band when working out because generally speaking the tracking has been better there for me. My functional fitness workouts report 20-50 beats off compared to my Apple Watch during high intensity. For example during one workout recently, my Apple Watch showed around 160 bpm and the Whoop showed around 100. This scenario has happened several times. I’ve also noticed very high stress levels when I wear on the bicep while at rest but once I move to the wrist, it instantly drops to low. I could go on with more examples. It’s so frustrating to have a product that you like and want to work yet it seems to be failing spectacularly. I do have a replacement device on the way after waiting a week and a half to hear back from support. Thanks Whoop. At this point I’m not holding my breath. I really hope Whoop gets it together and gives us a product that actually works. After all, how are you supposed to focus on longevity when the data is basically useless because of how skewed it is?!

I received a replacement device recently. Still the same. My sleep metrics even decreased

I think it’s interesting that for you Whoop under reports HR when working out and for me when cycling it over reports but similar numbers, 40 beats extra. This makes me think it’s software related although Whoop have told me they do not do any manipulation. Wrist based was terrible for cycling so moved to Bicep and at first thought it was working great than suddenly wild numbers. There is no rhyme or reason for these anomalies I am seeing other than data being manipulated. If it was hardware surely every time I cycle I would have bad HR readings but it seems 3 or 4 good ones and suddenly a bad one. And of course that bad one throws the strain and recovery out of the window. I feel great but have been in the red for 3 weeks because of stupid HRV spikes. I am at a loss.

Exactly what I’m seeing. My heart rate (I wear a bicep band) is only somewhat steady when I ride on aerobars. Even there it’s still off but not so ridiculously off as if worn on the wrist. At running my Whoop hr is 40/50 beats OVER my chest strap. Also when swimming. Swimming I know is a different thing so I’m not overly complaining here (albeit Polar Verity Sense hr armband and my chest strap still get it at least decent). In winter hr when indoor cycling is ok but still not great. This is my experience. Bicep band overall is better but still off. Wrist hr is totally unusable. No matter what: As a whole all metrics and data are thrown off because of this. So as a conclusion wearing Whoop for workouts is useless.
