Support Timed Isometric Holds in Strength Trainer

Idea:
WHOOP Strength Trainer should support isometric exercises and timed static holds as a dedicated workout type, rather than forcing users to convert them into repetitions or substitute them with unrelated exercises.

Many strength, rehabilitation, athletic performance, and functional training sessions include movements such as Wall Sits, Lunge Holds, Push-Up Holds, Isometric Rows, Glute Bridge Holds, Weighted Planks, and Side Planks. These exercises are primarily measured by time under tension, not repetitions.

It would be very useful if WHOOP allowed users to:

  • Log an exercise as a Timed Isometric Hold
  • Enter the duration of each hold, e.g. 40 seconds
  • Add an external load in kg/lb
  • Specify Right / Left side for unilateral holds
  • Record multiple timed sets without requiring reps
  • Create custom isometric exercises when an exact movement is not available
  • Allow WHOOP Coach/AI to recognize terms such as “Lunge Hold” or “Row Hold” without converting them into walking lunges or normal repetitions
  • Preserve the user’s selected measurement units correctly, especially kg vs lb

This would make Strength Trainer much more accurate for isometric strength training, rehabilitation, functional fitness, circuit training, combat sports, racquet sports, and athletic performance programs.

Currently, users performing these sessions often have to select exercises that do not accurately represent the movement they performed, which can affect the accuracy and usefulness of the workout record.

Suggested feature:
Add an “Isometric / Timed Hold” option alongside reps when creating or logging strength exercises.
