Strength Trainer Forced Ordering of Exercises

Hi Everyone!

I have been using the strength trainer feature to track workouts since it launched. I noticed last week while using this, the app is forcing me to complete every exercise and rep in the given order that they are listed in my custom workout. For example, if I had a Deadlift exercise listed first, I was not able to start my workout by selecting Overhead presses. This issue also is preventing me from doing supersets as the app is not allowing me to select a different exercise to start unitl I complete all sets of the previous exercise in order. I used to be able to jump around to differnt exercises and do supersets back and forth without any issues, but the app is forcing the competiion of each exercise & rep in order now. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you have any recommendations on how to fix this?

Hey @louisnaimoli

Thanks for reaching out! This is a recent bug that we are aware of that is already being fixed. Software is saying the fix will be out as soon as possible likely a couple of weeks!

Chris

Oh amazing! Thank you so much @ChappyStrengrh for the info!

Same thing is happening to me

The most recent iOS update appears to have broken the ability to start a set from another lift out of order. Before, I was able to skip around on my sets during a strength training session by pushing the play arrow button. Now when pressing the play arrow, it defaults to the next set. Whoever is pushing out these app updates keeps breaking major things on the app. Please someone double check this person’s work.

Struggling with this right now -.- thought I was loosing my mind

I’m having the same issue, it’s infuriating and basically renders strength trainer useless. How long until this bug is fixed??

Which version of the iPhone app does this bug occur in? Just deactivated app auto-updates on my phone as this bug would be a real concern for me. Last time I used ST was Monday and worked as usual, though I can see the App Store has an update teed up. I also noticed when I opened the app today there was an announcement about some ST enhancements, which is what I wanted more info about in the first place, but seems instead has introduced a pretty major big. Ugh!

A couple of weeks? That’s pretty crazy right? We went from free tech with everyone new device that comes out to a couple of weeks to solve a bug fix?

Having this type of a delay in a fix is unacceptable. Been thinking of leaving whoop for a better device that doesn’t squeeze its customers for every $

I’m sorry, WEEKS?

No, man. Give us money back if ts going to take you weeks. This makes my Whoop far less functional than promised when I purchased. I am not a beta tester. I don’t want to wait WEEKS for a fix for something you broke. At the very least, roll back your update with the bug until you have a functional product.

This has made me go from recommending Whoop to everyone I meet to telling them Whoop can’t be trusted and they break things with huge delays.

I’m also ranking the app low, and I’m going to Amazon and Best Buy to warn people away from Whoop.

Weeks? That’s insane.

I agree with the group…Huge mistake on Whoops part and makes the app almost unusable

Hey @here,
Product said the fix is complete and will be out in the next rollout. I miscommunicated the info by saying “weeks”, so my apologies there. I hear all of you! This feedback is valuable it shows us how much people rely on the flexibility of going in any order.

Nope. The newest update still doesn’t fix the problem and support is gaslighting me by telling me to erase cache settings on iOS (spoiler, there’s no such setting for the app in iOS), AND I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled.

It’s not fixed. Support SAID the update would fix it. The update did NOT fix it.

Thank you I appreciate your time and consideration!

Quick update for the group here. I was able to connect with the team regarding timing of this fix. It will be deployed on July 28th. On that day, you can manually update your app in the app store by clicking “Update” and that bug will be fixed. Thank you for your patience with this.

Found a quick workaround. If
You edit then reorder your workout to suit your plan or gym situation before starting it in the app, when you start the program, it’s in the new order.

I haven’t been able to do the switch around for set switches from one lift to another, but my workaround is to start at the first lift, and give it only one set. Do that set and move to your next superset exercise. Then do a zero rep set for all the rest of the lifts (they have to be limited to one set per exercise) until you get to the end.

Then add a set to your first lift, then second, then first, etc. Repeat until the trainer wants to think you’re done again. Then go to the next exercise, remove the “zero set” and do it properly. Do that for each set until you’re actually done with your training.

This sucks, but it’s somewhat workable for supersets.

@MangeyMonkey - This is not a workaround. In a busy gym you don’t know which machine is going to be free at any given time so I can’t possibly predict the order before starting the workout.

Sometimes the opposite situation even occurs - I find that 2 machines are open in close proximity. In this situation I would like to combine the two exercises into a superset just for the current workout session. I wish the whoop strength trainer app was able to do that - but it can’t.

I also wish the whoop strength trainer could show charts of volume and max weight on a per-exercise basis so we could track progress over time but it can’t do that either.

So I am forced to use another app called RepCount and enter all my reps in both the Whoop strength trainer AND RepCount - which sucks!
