Please allow manual correction of activity step count (and count the corrected step count towards step goal for the day).
I have a walking treadmill that accurately counts steps. When tracking these workouts with whoop, the numbers never match. Sometimes the discrepancy is more than 50% or the steps. I’ve talked to support and followed instructions to improve it, which didn’t help, and the general response was that whoop just isn’t accurate at these treadmill walking workouts. Which isn’t great, but if there was I way I could just manually edit the workout and enter the actual number of steps, then this would be completely fine for me.
Thanks for the thoughtful post, @ziegfried . The example you gave with your walking treadmill really highlights the gap when step counts don’t align. Being able to manually correct step total would definitely give members more control and accuracy. We appreciate the feedback and will pass it along to our product team.
Same here, my step count has been off, by a lot. I walk a significant distance every day and have noticed a major difference in the same time frame (i.e. hour of walking in the morning is off by 2k-3k).
Welcome to the club. Been beating this drum for literally months. Pop my head in here every few weeks to see if they’ve fixed it yet. The answer is always “no”. As soon as a real competitor to whoop hits the market they are going to have a BAD time with people leaving en masse. I can’t believe they STILL have not fixed steps, which is used in their flagship feature Healthspan, and the most basic metric, which every other wearable does just fine.
Here for my bi monthly check in to see if there’s ANY progress on this issue and as expected, crickets. Whoop is on a timer now as I don’t think I’ll be renewing without this INCREDIBLY BASIC feature. Sad because I’ve been a long time user and avid proponent but the hilariously bad step counts and lack of ability to import from other sources and lack of any forward progress is frankly embarrassing.
Just bought a walking treadmill to reduce my lifespan with steps, found so many people on the internet having the same issue of steps not being counted….please Whoop team give us a solution!!!
+1 for this feature request. I find that steps are very under-counted in Whoop. I am wearing a second device for steps atm (that I put in my pocket if I am using a walking pad at my desk) it would be great to have all the numbers in one place!
+1 My treadmill sync data to health connect, but whoop when fetching this data just decides that he knows better than treadmill and just ignore step counts from this source!
Completely agree. I have a walking desk, and easily walk 5-10k more steps per day than the Whoop counts, I’m assuming because my hands are at my desk, typing rather than swinging. I, and I’m assuming many others, need a way to capture these, on top of just the inaccuracies. This is particularly important for those trying to hit targets in premium features like the Steps measure in Healthspan.
My step count is massively off,I regularly do over 20,000 steps a day and Whoop seems to be underreporting approximately 3000 of those on a regular basis.
Yes please. I use a walking pad while I work to deliberately increase my activity and the Whoop app isn’t even pulling in the steps that I’m manually entering in the Apple Health app.
I’m having the same issue when I walk with a stroller since my arm isn’t swinging. The fact that step count is such a big part of Whoop Age makes this particularly frustrating.
Apple Health also tracks steps, and is often much more accurate if I keep it in my pocket – perhaps you could come up with a composite score using this data, or provide the option to use Apple Health’s step count instead?
100% agree. Apple health integrates with the KS walking pad app. So those step counts are accurate. I’m going to cancel WHOOP in the next two months if they don’t add a way to either pull the step count from the walking pad app or app Health, or worst case you could manually enter the step count. Insane they don’t have this. Right now the WHOOP is pretty worthless for me considering it doesn’t count to all those steps every day.
Having the same issue. It’s making me reconsider my whoop and looking into other options. I don’t understand why this is taking so long to be implemented when it affects such a large feature and draw for using the device in the first place.
This would be so helpful. I’ve noticed that the step count is more accurate on my treadmill if I wear the whoop on my ankle but then the heart rate is massively wrong.
