Is there a way to increase the vibration strength of 5.0’s haptic alarm?
I’ve slept through it twice in the 5 days I’ve had it and never had that problem with 4.0. Im going to have to go back to my phone alarm at this rate which won’t please my other half!
Thanks for the reply. How do you find it compared to 4.0? I’m not seeing much feedback about it on the forum which suggests its not a widespread problem?
I’ve slept through the 5.0 alarm a few times every time. Back to the loud iPhone alarm unfortunately. The 4.0 did the job well of waking me. At the level of vibration of the 5.0, i don’t see this being effective as an alarm. Any chance this could be improved?
I have the exact same issue. 4.0 woke me up, 5.0 is useless. Did Whoop not get any feedback from users before going backwards? This alarm was an amazing feature. My wife likes it even more as it didn’t wake her up. Could you please update the software that the strength is back? Or give users the choice if they want to increase it and then have less battery life or leave it and no need for charging for 14 days.
I cannot compare as 5.0 is my first whoop band.
For me I’d say it enough and most of the time it would be too much. To me the “haptic” word is not appropriate, it’s more a “vibrating” alarm and I would love to have a progressive approach :
Start with a gentle “haptic” tap (like the Apple Watch does) just like is someone is tapping your wrist for a few seconds
Then progressively escalate the strenght to a more powerful vibrating alarm as time passes.
This would allow people who only need a slight tap to be happy, and those who need more strong vibrations as well.
The above is a good suggestion!
Personally i much prefer the 5’s alarm strength to the 4.
I found the alarm on the 4 very strong, loud, and often non-responsive to the double tap needed to turn it off. The 5 is not only gentler, quieter, but way more responsive.
Totally understand this is a subjective thing though and others may need something more aggressive. I’m just a light sleeper I guess.
Having either a customisable strength, or as suggested above, a progressive strength (start light, and ramp up) sound like good ways to address the issue.
I agree. I really enjoy the 5.0 vibration motor better than the 4.0. The 4.0 motor felt loose-like while the 5.0 feels more solid. It’s much more responsive when tapping the device to dismiss the alarm as well.
Just got the 5.0. The vibration strength is MUCH weaker than the 4.0. Luckily I was already awake today I used the alarm on the 5.0. I don’t think it’s strong enough to wake me from a deep sleep. I’ll have to set a back up alarm to be sure. I’ve had the 5.0 for 1 day and between the weaker haptic alarm, and inability to use the old straps, I’m really disappointed in the 5.0.
We have looked into this issue with the Haptic alarm on the new WHOOP 5.0 and MG. There is an issue with the strength of the alarm, and the engineering team is looking into this issue.
Our engineering team is actively refining the haptic engine on WHOOP 5.0 and MG. The goal is to increase perceived vibration strength and improve reliability through upcoming firmware updates. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, any improvements will download automatically as long as the sensor stays paired with the app.
I’ve had my 5 MG for over a month now and it’s failed to wake me up every single time, whereas Whoop 4.0 woke me up every single time.
I’m really disappointed with Whoop 5 and wish I could downgrade.
4.0 was consistent and woke me up every day. 5.0 vibration is barely noticeable, regardless of how tired/ sleepy i am. In the last month i woke up maybe 1-2 times. Really disappointed, its an important feature for me
Hi everyone, thank you so much for your patience while I checked in with our Hardware team on this.
I wanted to share a little more context around the haptics on WHOOP 5.0. The difference in vibration feel compared to 4.0 comes from design decisions made as part of creating a smaller, more streamlined device. Our teams are always looking at ways we might continue to refine the experience, but we don’t have any specific updates to share right now.
I understand how important the alarm is for many of you, and appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences here. Your feedback is heard and has been passed along to the teams who work on these features.
I take it from your message that this is hardware limited and we should not expect future software updates to improve things?
If so, that is really disappointing. Perhaps some users wanted a smaller device but 4.0 was hardly intrusive and if this was one of the trade offs I’d really have preferred the larger device!
Damn and here I was thinking I am the only one sleeping in with the new whoop MG..
For weeks now I wasnt feeling the vibrations to wake me up and had to jump back to be woken up by our alexa..
It would be really good to understand if there is a fix planned for this, as of right now the feature is basically not usable for me (and many other people as it seems).
