ECG Not Working

I just received my Whoop MG. I cannot get the ECG reading to succeed. Every time I do it, it counts down the 30 seconds and shows the live wave view, yet as soon as the timer ends it gives me the failure message.

I have tried all of the tips, yet it’s the exact same every time. What do I do about this?

Hi @popedriver, sorry to hear that. Hmmmmm. I haven’t seen that one before. Would you mind sending a screenshot of what you see on your screen when it fails so that I can file a bug for this and pass it off to the team?

FYI It happened to me twice this morning. I did nothing different to normal. 3rd time it worked. If it happens tomorrow I will take a screenshot.

Sounds good. Thanks @AlanGooner. Ya the screenshot would be really helpful. Thanks!

Here’s what it shows every time

Is there any update? It’s still giving me this error every time.

Having the exact same issue with mine. Have tried tightening the band, switching arms etc and just getting the same error message as you each time.

The support team got back to me saying that the band was too close to my wrist bone. I’ve tried moving it the suggested inch up my arm, and I’m still getting the same error every time.

Thanks popedriver. I’ve received this response:

“On examination, we can see a bug report has been logged for this issue you are experiencing.

These kinds of issues can take a significant amount of time to resolve due to the complex nature of the task of discovering the source of, resolving and coding a solution to the bug that you’re experiencing. We can assure you that our team is working hard to resolve this for you.”

I appreciate you raising this issue on the forum. Will leave you to decide your response.

I’ve spent over an hour trying to get this to work, and it’s still not functional. The app is adding to my stress instead of solving the problem. Please escalate this.

Update: Spent six hours and decided to return it.
Honest feedback: I genuinely don’t think the MG sensor was ready for release.

Hi all, thanks for writing in on this topic. I appreciate it. Thank you @popedriver and @eshaomar for the visuals.

TLDR: We have been digging into this on our end and haven’t noticed this happening in mass. One thing I do recommend you do is tight your strap prior to doing a reading. We saw some issues around this previously (first week of launch), but when members tightened their straps it went away. Try doing that as a next step, and let me know if that doesn’t resolve the issue. If it does not, please reach out again either here or to support@whoop.com.

I’m going to ask the team to continue to look into this one b/c I know how important this feature is.

Thanks gang.

Thanks for the reply. Tightening the strap was the first thing I tried - it hasn’t helped.

I appreciate the fact that you’re looking into it, but I hope you can understand my frustration given that I paid an extra upgrade fee and now pay an extra monthly fee, all for the main feature to never work (with no estimated timeline for when it will). At this point I would just like to go back to the old membership, but it’s annoying to have to deal with figuring out how to mail this thing back and then wait for another one to come.

I had issues this morning with ECG. 4 or 5 attempts to get it to work.

What I noticed.
HR was very high 90+ beats but in reality it was probably around 60.
The graphical view was up and down drastically.
Some attempts went from Purple to Green but then said error.

When it went wrong I think I gripped a little too firm with my thumb and finger

After relaxing the finger and thumb it worked.

Not sure if this was the cause but maybe something to check.

I have had similar issues. I have tightened the strap. I get the inconclusive message- no normal rhythm detected. I got one normal and 1 AFib. I don’t want to call my doctor and waste time and $ if this feature isn’t at par. Thanks for your consideration.

I have a very tough time getting my ECG to go through. It constantly fails. Let’s say I try 15 times I will only get one to register correctly. Very frustrating. Please help

I have been trying for over an hour with my new Life 5.0 and can not get the ecg to work keep getting the ecg reading failed. and am following all of the propts on the screen
