Hi all, so I’ve been using the 4.0 for a year now and then as I’m sure a lot did or have, was offered an upgrade to renew which I took advantage of to the 5.0.
I have to say from memory the 4.0 took a bit of time to ‘calibrate’ to me as expected but the 5.0 version is a country mile off the readings I was getting using the 4.0.
I go for a 8-10k run daily which on the 4.0 was coming out on average about 650-700kcals burned, and then 4 times a week I’d have a 40mins- hour resistance workout, this would typically expend 200-300 according to the 4.0. My total average daily was up to about 2700-2800 per day on the 4.0
With the 5.0 the same run often only picks up data for 20mins of that 45-50min run, as I have on auto detect and always have done. As a result kcal are down to 200 at times for the same run. The same thing happening with a gym workout, resulting in my daily expenditure being as low as 2100-2300 so about 500kcal per day down when I generally do exactly the same run and workouts
How can this be? Was the 4.0 massively inaccurate or is the 5.0?
I have an Apple Watch and my daily’s are about 2500-2600 ![]()
I was happy and settled with the 4.0 and now I’m don’t know what to think or do for the best
