Why is heart rate tracking during workout/training so off compared to other wearables?

This is yet another post regarding the heart rate tracking accuracy on the most expensive Whoop band in the lineup. I completed a 2+ hour ride yesterday with both my Apple Watch and whoop band MG and the whoop band didn’t even approach the same stratosphere as the AW when it came to tracking heart rate. Look at the drastic difference between the two devices. AW says I was under 135bpm 12:30 while Whoop says I was under 135bpm for…..1 hour and 47 minutes! Is this a joke?

Interestingly I have the complete opposite situation. Whoop has a crazy high HR for Me.

I am looking for ways to make heart rate readings on the 5.0 more accurate. ChatGPT suggest placing thr 5.0 in the inside of the bicep. Has anyone tried that?

Yes, tried it and it worked a little bit better for HR readings. Unfortunately it doesn’t count steps correctly in that position.

For runs, Whoop either counts only 3000 steps for a 7k run or underestimates the heart rate. I was not able to figure out how to get proper data for both metrics.

Maybe for biking it’s okay, because there aren’t steps to count anyway. :slight_smile:

Is it comfortable to wear it onnthe inside of the biceps?

You might have to give it a try. I am a woman and I can still fit the wrist band on my lower inner biceps. That’s why it isn’t much of a problem to experiment with different positions for me and I found it to be pretty comfortable there.

I acquired the arm band earlier this week and tested it out. It works well and there were no sudden drops in heart rate. It stayed right in line with where my Apple Watch was. I have yet to test it out during interval training on my bike. That will be the real test. Will update further when I do.

I have tried wearing whoop on the inside of my biceps White running, without success. It is as bad as wearing it on my wrist.
