Why does 5.0 has absolutely horrible HR accuracy?

I’ve used the Whoop 5.0 for two months now, and the HR data is consistently inaccurate — usually 10–20 bpm below my actual heart rate during workouts. I do a lot of strength training, HIIT, intervals and every session, Whoop underreports my HR.

I’ve compared it against my Garmin Fenix 8 (with and without a chest strap), and the difference is obvious — I know when my HR is at 160, not 140. Even the Fenix 8 wrist sensor is surprisingly accurate, while Whoop is completely off during anything intense.

This is a 2025 device. How can it still have hardware so bad it can’t handle its core function? If the HR data is wrong, the insights are worthless. I even tried the bicep strap — it’s fine for steady running, but useless again for HIIT or gym workouts.

How is this still a thing? They need to fix this ASAP!

I totally agree with you on that.
I am wearing my 5.0 MG for 6 weeks now and all my measures have gone down.
Steps, HR, HRV, activities are not getting detected etc.
Just switched back to my 4.0 for two days and everything seems to be back to normal…
How can they mess up the hardware so badly… I will contact support about this.
