Why do I need to keep the app open at all times?

Hi all,

I love Whoop but find it super annoying that I have to keep the app open at all times to keep it synced. Does anyone know why this is and if there is a way to avoid it? Similar apps also manage to sync data in the back when allowed in settings.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Luca! WHOOP can maintain a Bluetooth connection while running in the background, but for a complete and consistent sync, the app does need to remain active in the background and not be force closed. This is because your data is processed and transferred through the app, and many phones limit or pause background activity when apps are closed or restricted to preserve battery.

If the app is force closed, syncing can pause until the app is reopened. Keeping the app running in the background helps ensure your data continues to sync as expected and stays up to date.
