Was just wondering if anyone else has noticed the inferior quality of the band. The plastic connector just slides off all the time and the metal bit stretches out too easily when changing between using a band and my bra. Doesn’t matter how careful I am I have to squeeze it back together when out putting my band on again.
I can’t speak for the 4 bands but I have noticed the 5 band buckle does need to be pinched back into shape after removing the whoop.
I found this thread and expected it to have thousands of comments quite honestly. I switched from the 4 to the 5 in November and immediately noticed that when I went to swap bands that the metal piece with the prongs fell right off the band in the process. That never happened to me with the 4 so I contacted support to report it as defective. Through twelve email exchanges they tried to convince me this was a new “feature” to make it easier change bands. Then I sent them a screen grab of the procedure provided by the Whoop Coach and they relented and sent me a coupon code for a replacement band. Once received, it did the same thing. This time they sent me a coupon code for $80 so I tried the “luxe” band version and it still did the same thing. In total, I have 5 Whoop 5.0 bands now all with the same “feature” (defect).
If this really was a new design feature, my main concern is that if I hook the clasp on something where it opens, the prongs will disconnect from the band and my Whoop is gone rather than just hanging on my wrist. ![]()
I just sent an email because I waited a while to use it before speaking more authoritatively. For me, the MG band is a complete disaster. In just three months, it completely discolored. Today, the strap is a bronze/copper color, something that never happened with the 4.0. Furthermore, the strap moves constantly; it doesn’t stay put. It’s as if the grip on the skin is considerably worse. And finally, the band’s clasp is much more delicate. Any rubbing, snagging, or touch on the wrist where it sits will cause it to come loose. Unlike the 4.0, which never came loose, never shifted out of position, and never faded to this color, my strap never did.
I am completely disappointed with the strap and am waiting to hear back from support.
