Whoop / Apple watch heart rate discrepancy

I have noticed in the past few days a substantial discrepancy between the HRs from my Whoop and Apple Watch. Whoop has been much higher. Anyone have thoughts?

Hi @fackler ! I did a quick scan to see if Support was already in touch with you and saw you are not a new member; I can appreciate that fit or placement are likely not causing the discrepancy you are seeing. Our next steps are to please reboot your device (via device settings)

I ordered one back in September 2025(I’m an Elite 3 cyclist in Belgium) and I immediately ran into issues: HRV was inaccurate, heart rate spikes up to 200 bpm while I was literally washing my bike, etc.

Out of curiosity, I came back here to see if these problems had been fixed by now… and honestly, I’m shocked to see exactly the same issues still being reported.

I actually hesitated to buy one again, because I thought they might have solved it. The reason I even considered it is simple: I really like the app and the way the data is presented. But the core problem remains — the data itself isn’t reliable.

And as cyclists, data has to be correct. There’s no room for “almost accurate.” Especially when Whoop markets itself as providing the most accurate data on the market — the reality is far from that.

It’s extremely discouraging to read about the same problems all over again: HRV inaccuracies, incorrect heart rate readings, poor sleep tracking, random activities being detected when you’re not even training… It’s honestly a shame for a brand like this.

This is a product promoted by some of the top athletes in the world, and it really makes me wonder how much they’re getting paid — because I highly doubt they fully trust this data either, or that they’re not experiencing the same issues.

As an athlete, you need to be able to rely on your data. And unfortunately, that’s still not the case here.

Me … I’m a 73 year old who’s just trying to keep fit enough to be skiing at 95. I too rely on the data.

The suggestion from @noooor fixed my problem. Not sure why it should have needed a reset, but since then the data makes more sense and is consistent with my Apple Watch.

Hi,

I agree, I had a Whoop only a few days last year, because HR, HRV, steps, etc., are inaccurate!! A few months after, it is exactly the same. Whoop, have you got an engineering hardware team? What are the next steps? For you, the situation is okay and there is no need for an update or communication? Very strange , you ignore completely your community!!!

Please use Apple Watch data in your app, because YES, your app is so good and I love the design, but the data is not..
