WHOOP AI assistant not working

whenever i try to use the WHOOP AI assistant, whatever i type in i get the response of “Failed to send message.” in the web browser, and “WHOOP was unable to generate a response to your message. Please try again.” in the app. i know the WHOOP Ai coach was a topic in may/june that looks like it was resolved(?), but i haven’t seen anything more recent on it, so figured i would ask again. thank you!

Another problem to add to my list :frowning:

I have the same problem. Keep getting the error message:

Whoop was unable to generate a response to your message. Please try again.

Hi @akasmyth79 and @rudyphx, thank you for your note. We have not seen widespread reports of this issue. Would you mind attaching a screenshot to this thread if it is still happening for you?

The “Failed to send message” and “WHOOP was unable to generate a response…” (app) errors are very rare, and typically happen during heavy usage of ChatGPT and their APIs (which our coaching platform is built on). One thing you can do if you see this message again is to check the OpenAI Status page here: https://status.openai.com/

You’ll notice that today, for example, at 10:39 AM on 8.28.2025, that OpenAI is seeing some issues with their APIs and ChatGPT (image below).

I believe that these issues will happen less and less over time as AI technology performance and infrastructure improves. We’re still early in the AI days.

Hope this helps. Have a great rest of your day.

thanks durkin, super-helpful. i tried again this morning and the AI assistant worked like a champ in the web browser, but i received the same error message in the app. hopefully as you said, the issues will happen less and less over time.

Thanks for the update @rudyphx.

Hi Durkin,

See attached screenshot, this is what I get constantly. Not intermittently, but all the time.

Any help/guidance would be great.

Here’s a screen recording also…

Any update on this… I’m still having the problem.

the problem is still there for me too - consistently in the app, but not any more on the website (https://support.whoop.com/)

Hi, also having the same issue every time I try to use whoop coach on my Android (Pixel 8, all permissions granted, perfectly fine internet connection). Bummer it doesn’t work since the January Jumpstart would have been neat. Any fixes?

Hey @rudyphx

On Android devices like the Pixel 8, this usually comes down to a quick app refresh. Let’s try the steps below, in order:

  1. Please make sure the WHOOP app is fully up to date from the Google Play Store.

  2. Force close the WHOOP app, then reopen it.

  3. Clear the app cache (this won’t delete your data):

    • Android Settings > Apps > WHOOP > Storage & Cache > Clear Cache
  4. Reboot your WHOOP device:

    • To reboot your device, please navigate to Device Settings by selecting the device icon in your app. Then go to Advanced > Reboot Device.
  5. Log out of the WHOOP app, then log back in.

Let me know if you are still experiencing this!

thanks noooor, this has been working for me lately. it must have just caught up with one of the regularly pushed updates. i’ll mark your comment as the solution.
