I’ve been a WHOOP user for nearly 2 years and have always used my WHOOP for as a heart rate monitor on runs (using bicep band). Accuracy was really good with Whoop 4. More importantly, my heart rate always broadcast to my Garmin, so I could see Realtime heart rate, average heart rate and another heart rate metrics..
However, I have not had the same experience with the WHOOP 5. Heart rate keeps dropping in and out of my Garmin 955 display. I’ve been in contact with WHOOP support and they’ve offered various workarounds, but they have not solved the problem. As a runner who trains by heart rate, this is a big problem. I’m going to go back to my Garmin heart rate Strap, but this may mean me wearing a Garmin heart rate strap and Whoop strap on my runs. Feel like some sort of running medical experiment!
Wondering if others have had the same issue? Given that WHOOP doesn’t have a display, which I’m fine with, a failure to broadcast consistently to compatible devices seems to be a big issue.
