I’m hoping someone here can help or share a similar experience.
I had a WHOOP 4.0 on a one-month trial. At the end of that trial, I clicked “End Trial” to return the device, but the website offered me a 2-week extension, which I accepted.
Now that the extended trial has ended, I wanted to upgrade to WHOOP 5.0 with a Peak membership, but I haven’t been given the option. Instead, my subscription automatically continued as Peak with WHOOP 4.0—which is not what I intended.
I contacted support, but the replies don’t seem to reflect my actual issue. The messages keep saying things like “Sorry you want to cancel your subscription”—even though I clearly stated that I want to continue my membership, just with an upgrade to the 5.0.
I’ve already asked them to escalate the case and connect me with a real human (not AI), but so far no luck.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any tips on how I can resolve this?
You should have the option to upgrade to the 5.0 device within the app. Since you converted from trial to Peak, there should be no charge for the device assuming you went for the annual subscription and have 12 months or more remaining. Someone from the WHOOP team may have a better response if this is not correct.
I’m encountering a confusing upgrade path with my Whoop 4 trial. The system offers me two unclear options: extend my current trial (keeping the Whoop 4) or purchase a new Whoop 5 (but it’s unclear what happens to my existing trial). This creates an unnecessarily complex customer journey that makes upgrading difficult.
Hey @RonnyMarkus, sorry for the confusion. Here’s how upgrading from a WHOOP 4.0 trial to WHOOP 5.0 works:
If you are on a 4.0 trial and you want to upgrade, you’ll need to purchase a 12-month membership extension—the one-time upgrade fee isn’t available during the trial period.
Once you extend your membership, you’ll get the WHOOP 5.0 sent to them free of charge.
You can keep using their 4.0 while you wait—no gap in service.
And good news: the 4.0 doesn’t need to be returned. You can pass it on to someone else who wants to give WHOOP a shot.
If you don’t upgrade during the trial, it’ll just roll into a paid membership automatically. From there, you can choose to upgrade by either paying a one-time fee or extending their membership.
If the upgrade options look a little confusing, the main thing to know is this: trial members need to extend for 12 months to unlock the free WHOOP 5.0 upgrade.
