Hey everyone, I’m feeling a bit confused. I want to upgrade from the free 4.0 trial to the 5.0 MG Life plan. From what I understand, the first step is to upgrade my trial to a 12-month WHOOP 4.0 membership. Is that correct? If so, what are the next steps after that?
Hi! Here are instructions on how to upgrade…
- You’ll need to purchase a 12-month membership extension—one-time upgrade fees aren’t available during the trial.
- You don’t need to return your WHOOP 4.0.
- Your WHOOP 5.0 will ship once you upgrade, and you can keep using your 4.0 in the meantime.
- Feel free to pass your 4.0 to a friend or family member so they can give WHOOP a try.
Where to find the upgrade option:
In the app:
- Open the WHOOP app
- Tap More → My Account → Membership and Billing
- Select Upgrade Membership and follow the prompts
On the web:
- Go to app.whoop.com and log in
- Head to Account or Membership Settings
- Look for Upgrade Membership and follow the steps
HI. My one month trial just ended and I was charged $254 for my membership. I want to upgrade to the MG. when I look at the options online it looks like I either pay $79 or Pay for another year at $354. and get the device free. is this accurate?
Make the MG upgrade through the app, your 4.0 one year subscription of $254 should be deducted from the new price, and you should pay just the $100 difference. If not, I would contact their support.
Does the upgrade from free trial to Whoop 5.0 come with 30 days cancellation period?
Hi, So I had a Whoop 5.0 Peak which came as a trial. Before the trial was ending, I upgraded and paid for the yearly to a 5.0 MG and now I received my MG. The app asked me to connect the new MG, which I did and its all good. Now how do I return my Trail one ? I can’t see a return option and If I cancel my membership, it would cancel my already upgraded Whoop MG membership, which I don’t want to. Please help me through this.

Since you upgraded to a WHOOP MG membership and have a leftover WHOOP 5.0 strap from your trial, there is no requirement to return the 5.0 strap. WHOOP does not require hardware returns when upgrading devices or memberships.
You can keep your WHOOP 5.0 strap, and if you like, you can pass it on to a friend or family member who can activate it with a new membership. This is part of WHOOP’s upcycle program to promote sustainable reuse.
