Tricep band=Useless

Hello,

I’m very new to WHOOP and I personally don’t like wearing anything on my wrist. That’s why I switched to the tricep band.

Before switching, I regularly had over 15,000 steps per day. Since using the tricep band, I only get around 8,000 steps. I’m a very active person, and I really dislike when data is not accurate. A small deviation is fine, but a difference of 5,000–8,000 steps is a no-go for me.

I’ve read posts from other users who seem to have the same issue. My question is: Is WHOOP aware of this problem, and is there any plan to fix it?

Hi @Zerodermacher , thanks for reaching out! WHOOP’s step algorithm is optimized for wrist wear, where natural arm swing provides the motion patterns needed for accurate step detection. When worn on the bicep, that motion is reduced or altered, which might lead to discrepancies, especially for walking-heavy days.

That said, off-wrist wear (like the bicep band) is still excellent for heart rate, strain, recovery, and sleep, which are the core metrics WHOOP is built around. Steps are intended to be a directional metric, not a pedometer-grade measurement.

We actively listen to member feedback like yours and continuously evaluate how our metrics perform across different wear locations. While we can’t share specifics or timelines around future changes, your feedback is part of that ongoing review.
