I’m just wondering how the search teams and scanners at an airport regard the whoop band. Will I need to take it off to have it separately scanned at security like a watch? Or can I leave it on.
Is it okay with the actual aircraft? I assume using ‘airplane. mode’ on my phone while in flight will throw off the readings, is there some way to compensate for that?
At airport security, you can usually leave your WHOOP band on. Most scanners treat it like a fitness tracker or simple jewelry. But, occasionally security might ask you to remove it, just like with a watch or bracelet. If they do, just place it in the tray with your other personal items.
On the plane, the WHOOP band itself doesn’t interfere with aircraft systems and is totally safe to wear in-flight. You can keep tracking your data normally.
If your phone is in airplane mode, your WHOOP will store the data and sync everything as soon as you turn Bluetooth and the app back on after you land, so you won’t lose anything!
I hope that was helpful. I know the first time that I went on a plane with my WHOOP I had the same question, and I’m sure many others do as well, so this was a great question to ask us. Thank you.
Fly a lot, domestic (USA) and international. Never had an issue with security or flying. Only problem - once when going through security, pulled off whoop when taking off jacket to stuff in pack. No significant issues with time zones either.
