I went to bed at 11:30pm but it detected the start of Time in Bed at 12:30am (most likely the time I fell asleep). Should I adjust my bed start time to 11:30pm or leave as at 12:30am?
Sleep coach said no need to adjust but when I ask the AI on the support website it says I should change my start time. Any advice? Thanks
Great question! If you got into bed at 11:30pm with the intention of going to sleep (not reading, watching TV, or using your phone, etc.), then adjusting your sleep start time to 11:30pm will give you the most accurate Sleep Efficiency—since that metric reflects how much of your time in bed was actually spent sleeping. However, if you were simply relaxing in bed and not yet trying to fall asleep, it’s fine to leave the start time at 12:30am.
In general, for the most accurate tracking of Sleep Efficiency and Sleep Latency (how long it takes you to fall asleep), it’s helpful to manually adjust your sleep start time to when you actually begin trying to fall asleep or to click “start sleep” at the beginning of your sleep. Wearables can’t always detect this intent, especially if you’re lying still but awake—like when watching TV or reading.

So I’ve tried manually starting “sleep” as an activity. First day seems to worked well but last night I had trouble falling asleep and it only showed 5mins of latency, lower then my usual latency. How can I ensure its accuracy or what adjustments to the timing can I make to ensure it’s actually accurate?
