Subject: Strength Trainer Accessibility & UX Feedback

Hi WHOOP team,

I wanted to share some detailed feedback and feature requests specifically for Strength Trainer. These are all about making it more accessible and practical to use while actually lifting, especially for members with poor eyesight or who want a more hands-free experience.

**1. “Glasses-off” / large-format accessibility mode**

When I’m using Strength Trainer, I often take my glasses off to lift. In that state, I can barely read anything on the screen. The current font sizes and UI elements are simply too small to see clearly in the middle of a workout, which makes it hard to confirm exercises, reps, sets, or navigate between movements.

I’d love an optional “glasses-off” or large-format accessibility mode within Strength Trainer that:

- Greatly increases font sizes for exercise names, set/rep counts, and buttons

- Uses much larger tap targets so I can hit them quickly even with blurry vision

- Potentially leans more on simple, high-contrast graphic or icon-based cues rather than dense text

- Keeps the layout minimal so information is legible at a quick glance between sets

The goal would be to make Strength Trainer usable without glasses, for members who can’t comfortably train with them on.

**2. Voice-driven, hands-free control via Bluetooth earphones**

Right now, I have to keep going back to the app and tapping the screen to start/stop sets, skip exercises, or move through rest periods. In practice this feels pretty clunky: I’m lifting, I put the weights down, then I have to find my phone, unlock it, and tap around instead of just staying focused on the workout.

A voice-guided, hands-free mode would be hugely valuable. Ideally, Strength Trainer could:

- Provide audio prompts through my headphones/earbuds such as:

  • “Begin Set 1 of [exercise name]”

  • “Rest for 60 seconds”

  • “Next exercise: [exercise name], [sets] × [reps]”

- Let me control navigation using my Bluetooth earphones’ buttons, for example:

  • **Forward button:** move to the next exercise or end rest early

  • **Back button:** go to the previous exercise or repeat an instruction

  • Possibly start/stop sets or confirm completion without touching the phone

The idea is to make Strength Trainer something I can mostly run from my ears (audio + earbud controls), instead of constantly picking up and managing my phone mid-workout.

**3. Larger, auto-playing exercise demo videos**

When I’m in Strength Trainer and looking at a specific exercise, the demo of the person performing it shows up as a small thumbnail. It’s hard to see, especially without glasses, and it requires extra taps to open and watch the video.

It would be much more useful if:

- When I land on an exercise in Strength Trainer, the demo video automatically plays

- The demo is displayed in a large, near–full-screen view (or at least takes up most of the screen)

- I can immediately see the form and posture of the person doing the exercise without having to tap into a separate tiny thumbnail

This would pair nicely with the large-text mode above: big, readable exercise info plus a large, auto-playing demo would make it much easier to confirm I’m doing the movement correctly while lifting.

Overall, these three changes—a glasses-off / large-format mode, a voice + earbud control mode, and large auto-playing exercise demos—would significantly improve accessibility and real-world usability of Strength Trainer. They would especially help members with poor eyesight and those who want a more seamless, hands-free lifting experience.

Thanks for considering this feedback and for all the work you’re doing on Strength Trainer.

Best,

Morty
