Hi, my renewal automatically hit like a week before the 5.0 came out last spring. I was annoyed to pay the upgrade fee for the new device, I’m with the 4.0. Now my sensor is acting up/not charging and I’ve been circling around trying to get help. Any advice, need some guidance.
Hi @CoachTwig — thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the community!
If your WHOOP 4.0 isn’t charging or powering on, here are a few things to try before we explore upgrade options:
1. Check the charger:
-
Plug your battery pack into a power source and make sure the LED lights up.
-
If it doesn’t, try a different outlet or USB port.
2. Attach the charger securely:
-
Slide the charger onto your sensor until it clicks into place.
-
Make sure the band isn’t loose or misaligned — that can prevent charging.
3. Check the sensor LEDs:
-
Double-tap the sensor. If no lights appear, the battery might be fully depleted.
-
Keep it on the charger and open the WHOOP app to confirm it’s connected.
4. Reboot your sensor:
-
In the WHOOP app, go to Device Settings → Reboot Device.
-
Keep your phone close to the sensor while it restarts.
5. Inspect for damage:
-
Check the charging contacts for dust or debris.
-
If the battery pack shows no LED indicator, it could be defective.
If you’ve gone through those steps and it’s still not working, reach out to support@whoop.com — they can help troubleshoot or replace the hardware if needed.
Now, about upgrading to WHOOP 5.0:
You have two main options:
-
Pay a one-time upgrade fee ($49 for WHOOP Peak, $79 for WHOOP Life), or
-
Extend your membership by 12 or 24 months — this includes the new device at no extra cost.
There are some exceptions that might apply to you:
-
If you renewed within 30 days before or 14 days after the WHOOP 5.0 launch, or
-
If you have 12 or more months left on your membership,
you may qualify for a waived upgrade fee on WHOOP Peak.
You can easily check your eligibility by starting the upgrade process in the WHOOP app — any available waivers will show automatically during checkout.
Hope this helps get you back on track (and possibly on the 5.0!).
