RED-s and Menstrual Data Export/Syncing

Hi team, long time WHOOP user here. My ask is really simple: I think there would be a lot of benefit from exporting menstrual data to apps like Training Peaks for athletes and coaches.

I started using WHOOP when I was deep into the worst period of my eating disorder. A sufferer for nearly 2 decades at that point, I first got a WHOOP to help get better. This was before the women’s health data options, and only just when 4.0 came out.

4 years later, I’ve only just gotten my periods back. But I’ve changed a tonne during that time and now also a fairly good cyclist. First thing me and my coach realized, is that Menstrual cycles aren’t exported to Training Peaks. This seems like a massive oversight and can be easily added to the metrics. HRV and RHR are far from the only key metrics in an athletes equations. I’ve gone from an ED to RED-s and now to healthy and “normal” and let me tell you, WHOOP has gotten worse and worse at helping during this phase.

Also let me tell you I’m shocked to not find any posts here about RED-s. You have so much data WHOOP, surely you can help spot signs that an athlete might be suffering and provide insights in a meaningful way? Or at least enable the export of more data points so coaches and other apps might be able to pick up on it.

Some more back ground and points:

  1. Menstural cycles now for me are a non-negotiable, I will not race without them, and my coach wants to understand how to structure my training around them.
  2. My HRV was incredibly high when I was very sick, then also when I was massively underfuelled. Now my HRV has dropped, and fluctuates with my cycle. Nothing in WHOOP is showing a correlation to my hormones changing and coming back online. I don’t think a high HRV should be heralded as a sign of health.
  3. My RHR was so incredibly low. It’s now higher and normal, which is great as it’s showing my body isn’t trying to save energy and suppress my metabolism. Can WHOOP please find a method to correlate other data points as it’s currently gamified with the WHOOP Age metric, and isn’t actually always a good thing.
  4. Also just because I’m ranting now, calories are way off. Even your WHOOP AI bot tells me that. Please think about how this metric might affect people and especially those Athletes with RED-s.

Looking forward to the data being synced! Thanks again team.

Cheers,

Esther
