Not recording steps on my under desk treadmill

My whoop 5 isn’t recording my steps on my under desk treadmill and when I asked why I was told it’s because I was typing and not moving my arm in the usual way I would when I’m walking. Is there a way around this as obviously I need to type a lot when I’m working?

I can’t help but if this is true I wont be getting a under desk treadmill. I am very disappointed with Whoop steps in general. They put to much emphasis on steps in my opinion but I was looking for a way to up my steps and under the desk treadmill seemed a solution. According to Whoop 3 hours of bike riding doesn’t count towards my steps total. Based on my usual cadence of 80 rpm in 3 hours I did close to 15k steps all be it whilst seated and low impact.

Hope you find a solution. I will watch this post with interest.

Don’t let it put you off getting an under desk treadmill. I’ll probably not renew my whoop when it expires if they don’t improve things by then, and get myself a Garmin instead. Just because whoop isn’t recording the steps it doesn’t mean I’m not doing them.

I agree you are doing them but with their Algorithm so reliant on steps my recovery is often poor. Unless in the next 11 months I do not see improvements I too will not renew.

Please let us manually add steps to activities. I walk at my standing treadmill at my desk.

I walk multiple miles but whoop shows only 200 steps where as my treadmill shows 6500! Please fix it so i get my step count up—its critical for the age tracker to know my right steps.

My treadmill sync data with health connect, but whoop after fetching this data uses only start and end times… MY TRADMILL BETTER COUNT STEPS THAN WHOOP, Please respect this datasource as better than whoop accelerometer based algorithms.
