Multilingual Exercise Search in Strength Trainer

I have a feature request for the Strength Trainer.

Right now, the exercise search only works in the app’s selected language. When the app is set to German, I have to type the German exercise names — otherwise no results appear. In practice, this is inconvenient because exercises in gyms and classes (e.g., UN1T, Hyrox) are almost always called out in English.

Request:

Please enable a multilingual exercise search. Even if the app is set to German, typing English exercise names should still show the correct German exercises.

Examples:

  • “Deadlift” → “Kreuzheben”

  • “Squat” → “Kniebeuge”

  • “Biceps Curl” / “Reverse Curl” → corresponding German curl variations

This would make the Strength Trainer much more practical and intuitive in everyday use.

Probably relevant for any other European language because most people use english terms for the excersies

Thanks for laying out the examples like “Deadlift to Kreuzheben” and “Squat to Kniebeuge”. That makes the request really clear. A multilingual search inside Strength Trainer would definitely make things smoother for members who hear exercises called out in English but use the app in another language.

It’s a thoughtful idea, especially with the mix of languages you mentioned in UNIT or Hyrox classes. We appreciate the feedback and will pass it along to our product team.

also, would be able to add

  • more excercises/copy the excercise database that the app „hevy“ is using? It is very complete and maybe opensource.
  • That the search also works for partial words? If you search „drücken“, ghe word „schulterdrücken“ will NOT appear because it is the second half of the word.
  • Btw there is a bug that when searching in strenghttrainer you cannot scroll down through the list of search results anymore.
