MG haptic alarm strength not strong & starting activities without the phone?

Hi.

Since having the MG, I am sleeping through the haptic alarm so much, that I have ended up going back to the apple iPhone alarm (which is not ideal) is there a known bug or something wrong with my hardware? Are others having this issue since upgrading?

Also is there a way to start an activity or at least mark a start time somehow on the whoop band without using the phone? Say I start something but don’t have my phone and also don’t have the time, I would not know when the activity started exactly so hard to then retro fill in and my auto detect feature rarely works so that won’t help either. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @collirich, thank you for writing in.

Re: The alarm. The alarm strength is set to one strength for everyone. Here are some tips that may help you:

  • Make sure your band is snug and positioned on the outside of your wrist (not loose or spinning).
  • Double-check your alarm settings in the Sleep Planner (try “Exact Time” mode for a stronger, more predictable wake-up).
  • If your battery is below 10%, the alarm might not trigger. Always make sure you have >10% battery before going to bed.

Re: Starting an activity: As of right now, you do need your phone to start an activity (if you’re looking to manually start one without just letting it autodetect). I’m going to pass this feedback onto our team b/c it’s interesting feedback that maybe we’ll solve for someday. One thing you can try afterwards is to edit the start time on your phone. You can typically see via the charts at what time you started (because your BPM will start to move upwards).

For example, here is the auto-detection of the activity.

I then edited it to make the start time earlier (as a test).

You’ll see that the auto-detection did a great job identifying when the activity started. Nice!

If you do ever want to edit the start time, you can click up on the top right on your activity like this and click “Edit”:

You can then Edit the start time here and Save.

Hope this helps. Thanks for the feedback @collirich.

I second this. Haptic on the 5.0 is much weaker than the 4.0. The 4.0 Vibration was strong and noticeable — even in deeper sleep. I do understand the 5.0 is a smaller device so maybe this has something to do with it? Would be amazing if the intensity of this haptic alarm can be increased via Firmware.
