Is WHOOP Still Calibrating? Strain Seemed Delayed During Workout

Hi WHOOP community!

I’m a new WHOOP user and super excited to dive into all the data and insights. That said, I’ve noticed some big discrepancies between my Apple Watch and WHOOP during workouts—especially in the heart rate and strain readings.

For example, during a recent workout where I was clearly working hard (sweating, elevated heart rate), my strain score initially seemed really low. It eventually caught up—jumping from almost nothing to 3.4, and now it’s at 4.3. I did clean the sensor mid-workout, so that might’ve helped.

Since I’m still within my first week of using WHOOP, I’m wondering:
• Is it normal for strain to take time to reflect during activity?
• Could this be part of a calibration period for new users/devices?
• Has anyone else had similar experiences early on?
