Having issues with HR - says resting heart rate is getting higher and workout heart rate is getting lower, Apple Watch in todays workout was an average of 146, Whoop was 118, physical test of HR was closer to Apple Watch……..seriously disappointed right now as it isnt giving clear accurate workout feedback. What can be done? is their a reset? worn on the rest constantly
Just search HR issues with Whoop 5/MG you will find loads of posts. It’s a common theme in the community. Sadly there seems no help coming..
Today I tightned the whoop on my wrist, two fingers upp from wrist bone. It helped a lot. Of course not as accurate as my Polar OH1 on my biceps, but Whoop calculated my strain quite accurate (based on my experience and feeling) althoug it collected a bit to much time in zon 5. But I don’t use Whoop for exact accuracy, more the trends. I often edith the workouts to get time in zone more in same ballpark as my Polar OH1. So I will continue to wear Whoop on the wrist a little bit tighter than beforen, but still not expect it to be as accuracy as my OH1 or H10 cheststrap. Acctually my whoop is more accurate than my Polar V2 PPG worn om my wrist. My workout was a run with a Cooper test in the middle.
Yeah this is known fix. Slide the Whoop up the wrist helps but and here is the but.. if you slide too high are you getting the opposite results. I am not looking for chest strap quality but it should work pretty good on the wrist. The Amazfit Helio strap is very good on the wrist and excellent on the Bicep. I want Whoop on the wrist to be very good not absolute rubbish. I need Whoop on my wrist for ECG and BP monitoring..
Yes I have exactly the same issue this week. I wear mine on my wrist. I have tightened it up but no difference. I’m running exactly the same pace as last week and getting zero minutes in zones 3 and 4 whereas up till this week I was around 17 minutes. My resting heart rate is higher, and my HRV is lower than normal but I’m not at all ill. All very strange.
Whoop please solve this! I have been a consistent whoop user since 2019. But with the upgrade to the 5.0, I am getting more consistent and accurate HR data from my Apple Watch Ultra. And as someone who is paying for all the latest and greatest Whoop has to offer, I am frustrated that my HR data is so bad, which means my time in HR zones is off, which means my strain and recover are off, which means my Healthspan and pace of aging are worthless. I found the 4.0 to be consistent and accurate, how did it get worse with the new 5.0? I want what Whoop has promised, but it makes no sense for me to keep paying for new features when garbage-in yields garbage-out. Please figure this out ASAP.
As a Whoop 4 user do you think the Whoop 5 band is more stretchy/flexible than the 4 band?
I haven’t noticed a difference in the bands. I assumed they were the same material.
If you have a 4 handy can you see if it’s less stretchy than the 5..
Just went looking for a 4.0 band, looks like I gave them away when I upgraded. Sorry I’m not much help here.
Thanks. Sounds silly but up until yesterday I was saying Whoop 5 HR is awful. But 3 days ago I put a leather band on, and since then HR on my wrist has been very accurate. I have a strange theory that the new Whoop 5 bands are very Flexible/Stretchy and cause movement on the wrist which throws off HR readings. Probably insane but I would love to know if 4 bands are less stretchy…
Wow, this is suprising news. It is a pitty that the leather band is so expensive. Myself have tried two sessions xc skiing on a quite demanding track. One session with whoop on the wrist last sunday for an hour, and today for an hour (same track) now with the whoop on my biceps. Both sesstions the whoop was quite of, but it was actually better on sunday (wrist) compared to today (biceps). The strain was more in term with how I felt (14.5) when I wore it on my wrist compared weared on my bicep (16.9). I would love to try the leather band - hope for a discount or a gift from Whoop.
I am not saying this is true, it’s just a hunch and until I can get outside and ride I wouldn’t hold my breath that it’s a good fix. All I can state is since I switched it’s been very close all week to my Chest Strap and Amazfit. But only on my indoor trainer where there is less vibration and movement. The standard bands are very flexible and maybe just maybe, the leather band doesn’t move around on the wrist as much ![]()
Same experience here. I do jiu jitsu, 2,000+ recoveries logged in and used to love my whoop until 4.0. Since I got MG, suddenly I never reach zone 5. Puking Hard sessions are logged as low strain and light rolls are showing as hard. Until 4, the numbers matched my feeling. Now it’s all over the place and for a while it got me thinking my self awareness had dropped and pushed me to make changes to my training that now looking at other reports I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been misled by not only pour info, but wrong info. And wrong info can be worse than bad one. Not sure I can rebuild my trust on the device and for the first time since whoop1, I’m thinking of switching. Sad.
I am having the same problem with Whoop 5 MG. The 4 was pretty accurate but the 5 is way off with heart rate. Using Technogym equipment with heart rate sensor. Heart rate in 130-140 by that measurement and by Apple Watch. However looking at Whoop data heart rate only in the 110s. Strap is tight on wrist no evidence for slippage. Whoop team you need to look into this. Very frustrating!!
