I’m experiencing the exact same issue as everyone else. At this point I’m questioning everything the Whoop tells me, if it can’t accurately track my heart rate how am I to believe anything it tracks, HR monitoring is its most basic function. Last night I slept terribly, tossed and turned, woke up multiple times and this morning it told me I was 90% recovered, yet I feel completely exhausted. Like I said, I’m questioning everything now so what’s the point in wearing it???
All, not much to add. Same issues. Never happens with my Garmin. WHOOP, you got to fix this asap, or I predict a spike in CHURN. And I am sure you will be able to measure that correctly. ![]()
I’m having this issue as well. Support told me I’m wearing the strap incorrectly (not really) - I don’t, I wear it exactly two fingers above my wristbone and I always have it there.
What actually happens is this:
- i start doing bulgarian split squats
- my heart after 30s wants to explode, apple watch shows 160 bpm, which is how i feel
- during the end of my set, whoop starts to catch up - I’ve already spent at least 20 seconds at this high heart rate
- i sit down, and this is when whoop goes from a stable 138bpm heart rate to 157bpm in (10 seconds, and note that I’m already sitting)
I think this affects the cardio/muscular load as well and what whoops hows right now as % breakdown, can’t be accurate.
It almost seems to me Whoop needs some time to clarify that the sudden increase in HR is not an anomaly but I’m actually working out.
But strength training is all about sudden spikes in HR, especially on lower days for me.
Hey!I
I had the same experience. After rebooting my WHOOP before a workout, it seemed much more responsive, and my heart rate data updated in real time. I’d be interested to know if this works for you as well.
Any updates on this?
Still the same here.
I don’t think there will be updates on this, because it’s not broken, but it will be different compared to, for example, wearing an Apple Watch.
What I have noticed during my training sessions, and this could be related, for example, to what kind of sensor they use, is that when I do exercises, when there is a lot more blood flowing in my arms, for example, barbell rows or Bulgarian Split Squat where my arms are pointing to the floor, the heart rate readings are much, much closer to the Apple Watch. When I do something like pull-ups, when obviously not all of the blood is in my arms, the readings are far worse compared to the Apple Watch.
This is just a speculation, but it could come down to the type of sensor, maybe with less blood flow, Whoop just can’t figure out your actual heart rate, and the Apple Watch, which, let’s say, has a stronger sensor, can.
Btw, anyone still following, support messages indicated I’m wearing the bad incorrectly and not well above my wrist bone. Weirdly in the sportflex band video the subject is wearing it right above her wristbone: https://youtu.be/_nkQ2e7rDKk?si=8gaPwuKFQVVZhMPY&t=40 which I was told is too low
