Illness Tracking for Better Recovery Context

I think Whoop would benefit greatly from an illness tracking feature. When we’re sick (cold, flu, fever, etc.), our recovery metrics change dramatically - lower HRV, higher resting HR, poor sleep quality - but Whoop currently treats these as unexplained variations.

Adding an “illness” tag would help:

  • Provide context for unusual recovery scores

  • Adjust recommendations appropriately (suggesting rest vs. training)

  • Track recovery patterns during and after illness

  • Improve long-term data accuracy

This would make Whoop’s coaching much more personalized and realistic during times when our bodies are fighting infections.

You can track “Sickness” in your Daily log - just like you can track “alcohol” or similar. I just found that recently so possibly it’s a recent update. I used to use Covid-19 as a proxy for being sick! I had a cold recently and so now “Sickness” is a minus 3% on my recovery insights.
