HSA card declined at checkout

Hey y’all, my name is Isaac.

I’m just wondering if anyone had the same issue and knows how to fix it, or if I just need to wait on the ticket I submitted to support.

So I’m reactivating and upgrading a previous membership to the MG on Life. I’m definitely sold on the MG because of the heart monitor. I have a heart condition and I could directly share my results with my cardiologist.

That being said my HSA card was declined for insufficient funds. And yes, before you ask, there’s definitely more than enough on that card and I actually have to spend it before the end of the year because it doesn’t roll over to the next year.

The error code on my HSA account said it was declined beacuse this type of transaction isn’t supported. Now just to be clear, it definitely should be, because I just used it with Big Fig to purchase a mattress topper and it worked just fine.

So my first thought was that the HSA card didn’t cover the additional band that I purchased. So I removed that for the cart and still got the same insufficient funds error. Short of it not covering the shipping for some reason….Which I don’t see why that would be the case, because it just covered the Big Fig shipping…Best thing I can figure is Whoop just rolled out the HSA card purchasing beacuse it wasn’t there a few months ago and for whatever technical reason it’s just not going through like it should.

Has this happened to anyone else? Was there a solution?

Thanks.

Hey @IKEMAN91,

It looks like our Membership Services team was able to get back to you. I’m sharing their message below so others can find it helpful if they run into the same thing.

Unfortunately, we can’t use HSA cards for upgrading membership, purchases on membership via shop.whoop.com and join.whoop.com. A personal form of payment must be used when purchasing.

Once purchased, submit a claim through your HSA provider to manage the reimbursement process. If you have issues with the reimbursement process, contact your employer or provider. You can click here to know more about HSA/FSA eligibility.
