Help verifying WHOOP purchase for FSA eligibility (documentation request)

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a WHOOP device and membership using my FSA debit card. My FSA administrator declined the transaction because they said they couldn’t automatically verify that the expense was eligible.

They’ve now asked me to provide additional documentation to substantiate the purchase (I’ve attached a screenshot showing exactly what they’re requesting).

Has anyone successfully gotten a WHOOP device/membership approved through FSA and can share:

  • What documentation WHOOP provided (invoice details, medical necessity language, product description, etc.)

  • Whether WHOOP support was able to supply anything specific that helped with FSA verification

  • Any tips on how to respond to the FSA administrator so the claim is approved

Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @adrianportales - happy to help where I can! WHOOP annual membership fees are generally eligible for FSA reimbursement, though approval ultimately depends on your specific FSA provider.

To submit your reimbursement, you’ll typically need an itemized receipt, which you can find in one of two places:

  • Your original order confirmation email, or

  • By logging into app.whoop.com and navigating to Payment History, where you can download the receipt directly.

If your provider has questions about eligibility or documentation, this article may be helpful:

Please note that while WHOOP memberships are commonly reimbursable, we recommend confirming directly with your FSA administrator to ensure they approve the expense.
