Feature Request – Support for Apple Shortcuts Integration

Dear WHOOP Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

As a dedicated WHOOP user, I truly appreciate the insights and performance tracking your platform provides. However, I’d like to suggest a feature that could significantly enhance the usability of the app—especially for users who prefer seamless and automated workflows.

Would it be possible for WHOOP to support integration with Apple’s Shortcuts app (iOS)? Specifically, I’m hoping for the ability to create a Shortcut that automatically starts a workout session with a predefined activity, such as Functional Fitness or Running, without needing to manually navigate the app.

This would be incredibly useful for users who wish to streamline their workout routines and better integrate WHOOP into their daily habits.

Thank you for your time and continued innovation. Looking forward to seeing this feature in future updates!

Warm regards,

Essa Al Ajman

@E7alajmi Very cool idea. I’ll pass this feedback off to the Product team. What other shortcuts would you use if you had to think of your top 5-10 shortcuts? Just curious because I could picture a whole screen on your iphone dedicated to these shortcuts and I’m curious which ones you’d prioritize? Thanks for the note!

Thanks a lot for the kind words and for forwarding the idea to the Product team!

As for shortcuts, here are a few I’d personally love to see:
1. Start Workout – instantly begin a pre-set activity like running or functional fitness.
2. Log Sleep – quickly log the start of sleep when heading to bed.
3. Sync Data – force a sync with WHOOP without opening the app.
4. Log Nap – quickly log the start of nap.
5. View Recovery – a quick glance at today’s Recovery status via a widget or Siri voice prompt.

A dedicated Shortcuts screen would be amazing—especially for users who like to automate and streamline their day. Let me know if the team would be interested in more ideas or mockups!

Thanks again for the great engagement!

Great list @E7alajmi. Thanks for sharing. I like that “log nap” one especially. Need a quick nap pick me up during the day? Tap one button to start recording that nap. Smart.

If you have other ideas or mockups, I’m down to take a look? Just curious: are you using any AI tools like ChatGPT, Replit, Bolt, Lovable, Cursor, or V0 for prototyping / idea generation?

I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVEEEE this feature. @Durkin pleeeease make it a thing.
I would suggest to check apps like Ticktick or Headspace for how they implemented the Shortcut page feature.
@E7alajmi thanks for the recommendation!

Hi there,
I’d like to second this request! I was just playing with Shortcuts hoping to create one for starting a walking activity. It’s only a few steps in the App but when you have a dog pulling on its lead a quick 1 button press would be amazing. I was hoping the whoop 5 was going to come with a programmable hardware button, but this would be a great alternative. :+1:

Examples of shortcuts I would create:

  • Start an activity
  • Stop current activity
  • Start sleep / nap
  • Stop current sleep / nap
  • Edit sleep (quite often forget to start the sleep activity)
  • Take ECG reading
  • Edit yesterday’s journal

Cheers,

Rich

I would like to join here requesting this!

It would be such a life saver, to start an activity, and be able to put that into a Shortcut.

My main use case would be to start a Dog Walking activity. Especially in the morning, where if I forget to fill my journal in the morning, I can’t even start the activity without going through my journal, which takes around a minute to do. If I could bypass that with a button press, that would be great!

Other features I’d set up is starting a gym session and starting a racing drive session which I primarily use for karting and sim racing. Apps are cool, but no interface is even better.
