Feature Request: Smarter WHOOP Journal (conditional + contextual + meds)

I’m a heavy Journal user and would appreciate a more efficient, structured version as the current version is quite slow and convoluted. I know that Apple health already is able to log some of these, but I’d really appreciate potential insights, as well as keeping things more centralised.

Some ideas:

1) Conditional, category‑based Journal - as this would be more efficient

- Show a short set of top‑level toggles by default, e.g.:

  • Socialized today?

  • Any notable physical symptoms?

  • Felt emotionally off? (stress / anxiety / low mood / irritability)

  • Took meds / caffeine / nicotine?

  • Late meal / other key sleep‑related behaviors?

- Only if I tap “Yes”, show follow‑ups in that category (e.g., social → drained/neutral/fulfilled; physical → which symptoms; emotional → anxious/low/overwhelmed/irritable).

2) Time‑of‑day + context tags for mood/stress or physical symptoms

For stress, anxiety, depression/low mood, irritability, etc., add optional simple tags:

- Time of day: Morning / Afternoon / Evening / All day

- Related to: Work / Commute / Relationships / Social situations / Health / Other

This would make it much easier to connect daily mood/stress to WHOOP Stress, Strain, and Recovery trends.

3) Multi‑select + location for body symptoms

For “Body aches”, joint pain, headaches, pelvic/abdominal issues, etc., allow:

- Multiple choices per day

- Basic location tags (e.g., neck/shoulders, back, hips, legs, arms, generalized; or front/back/one‑sided for headaches).

This would really help members tracking chronic pain, headaches, pelvic/urinary issues, hot flashes, dizziness, and fatigue.

4) More efficient medication tracking - Apple health already allows this so maybe it could be integrated?

Current med prompts (AD(H)D Medication, Blood Pressure Medication, Prescription Sleep Medication, Nicotine, etc.) are useful but repetitive. It would help to have:

- Medication schedules/templates:

  • Define “Morning meds” and “Night meds” with drug names, typical dose, and usual time.

  • Each day: tap Taken / Skipped / Adjusted, with dose/time only if Adjusted.

- Regimen changes:

  • When prescriptions change, update the regimen once (with an effective date), so WHOOP can later compare Recovery/Sleep/Stress across different med regimens instead of treating each day as unrelated.

Overall goal: keep daily logging fast and low‑friction, but allow richer context only when needed (what, when, related to what, where in the body, and under which med regimen). This would make the Journal far more powerful for members using WHOOP to understand complex interactions between meds, symptoms, stress, and recovery.

Thanks for considering it!

Hi @CharlieM1000 , thanks for sharing this, especially your ideas around a conditional, category-based Journal to keep daily logging fast without losing depth! The added context you described for things such as mood, symptoms, and medications could make it much easier to connect Journal entries with Stress, Recovery, and Sleep trends over time.

We appreciate the feedback and I will pass it along to our product team!
