I often have insomnia, or take trips to very different time zones. As a result, I end up sleeping, then being awake for a few hours before falling asleep again.
The problem is that Whoop interprets this as “Sleep” for a short time, then a “Nap”, gives me a very poor sleep score and then tells me that I don’t need to sleep very long the next night.
For example, today it tells me that I slept for 1:29, then napped for 6:40, with 2:53 between the two. I have a horrible sleep score because it claims I only slept for 1:29 and tells me that I should go to bed at 3:27AM and wake at 6:30 because of my long “nap”. This doesn’t make sense and is really horrible advice.
Can Whoop better handle interrupted sleep? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this, Samuel. The example you gave about sleeping for 1:29, waking for a few hours, then having a long “nap” that gets misclassified makes total sense—it’s a realistic scenario for anyone dealing with insomnia or time zone shifts.
We appreciate the feedback and will pass it along to our product team.
I had the same thing happen, an interrupted sleep (likely due to a wine-y Christmas party) but then a resumption of sleep that showed up as a nap. Is there any way to merge these two events. I hate to throw off my sleep records!
I have been having intermittent insomnia for more than 20 years. I wake up at least once almost every night. Sometimes I stay awake for a longer period and might or might not be able to sleep back a few hours later.
