I would love to see WHOOP introduce an Extended Fasting Mode.
Users could tell WHOOP when they start a prolonged fast — 24, 48, 72 hours or longer — and WHOOP would know that the athlete is currently fasting.
During the fast, WHOOP could monitor changes in recovery, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep and strain, while providing useful fasting-related guidance such as hydration, recovery and rest.
The Journal could also adapt during the fasting period and ask simple questions such as:
- How much water did you drink today?
- How do you feel?
- What is your weight today?
- Are you using electrolytes?
- Are you training while fasting?
At the end of the fast, WHOOP could provide a summary showing how the athlete’s body responded throughout the fasting period.
Many athletes practice extended fasting, and WHOOP already has the data to make this extremely useful.
I believe this could be a great addition to WHOOP’s recovery and health platform.
