Hello, please consider adding an estimated “end-of-day calories burned” metric alongside the current calories burned so far.
This would make it much easier to plan daily calorie intake, especially for people using Whoop to support body composition goals.
Use case:
I lift weights and aim to stay in a small daily surplus, for example +150 kcal, to support muscle growth.
Let’s say:
-
It is 5 PM
-
I want to eat my last meal by 6 PM
-
I plan to go to bed at 9 PM
-
Whoop shows 1,700 kcal burned so far
At that point, I know I will not be exercising anymore, so my calorie burn for the rest of the day will likely be close to my normal resting level. Based on experience, I estimate that I burn around 85 kcal per hour at rest.
So I currently have to do this manually:
-
Estimate remaining calories burned from 5 PM to 12 AM
-
That gives me roughly 600 kcal
-
Add that to 1,700 kcal already burned
-
Arrive at an estimated 2,300 kcal burned by end of day
-
Then calculate my intake target as 2,300 + 150 = 2,450 kcal
This is useful, but it would be much more convenient if Whoop provided an estimated end-of-day calorie burn automatically, based on expected baseline or resting expenditure for the remaining hours of the day.
I think this would be especially helpful for users trying to manage a calorie deficit, maintenance, or a small surplus with more precision.
Thank you.
