Add a sleep now button to WHOOP software

I have a Whoop MG and unfortunately the software/device doesn’t accurately recognise when I start my sleep - so for example I might go to bed a 01:00 and know I’ve got to sleep soon after, but the next day the software will detect my sleep as starting ar 4am.

I don’t know whether it’s possible to do this, but I’ve been trying to “train” Whoop to recognise my sleep time correctly by manually editing my sleep time, but to do this the next day I need to remember what time I went to sleep the day before - which - unless I write it down - is difficult.

Instead of writing it down is there a button you can add to the Whoop device to say “I’m sleeping now” as it would help reduce the amount of admin required.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi @SeekAdventure22, that’s a really cool suggestion, thanks for raising it.

On your feature idea: If you click on “Start Activity” on the homepage, you can actually select “Sleep” as an activity to start. Give that a try and let us know if that helps.

WHOOP currently uses automatic sleep detection as the primary way to detect sleep, relying on changes in your heart rate, HRV, and movement to figure out when you’ve actually fallen asleep. This means sometimes, especially if you’re lying still in bed before actually falling asleep, it might log your sleep start later than you expect.

Here’s what you can do right now:

- If WHOOP gets your sleep timing wrong, you can always manually edit your sleep session in the app the next day. Just tap into your Sleep entry, click the three dots, and update your bedtime/wake time.

- Manually editing your sleep does help “train” WHOOP’s algorithm over time, and your feedback is really valuable (so you’re doing the right thing!).

- I totally get that remembering your exact bedtime can be a hassle… hopefully, over time, as WHOOP learns your habits, the detection will get more accurate.

Hope that’s helpful! Have a great weekend!
