Via Apple Watch

I’m a long-time Apple Watch user and recently bought a Whoop MG to get more and deeper insights in my sleep, strain and recovery. I’m currently wearing both to compare a bit. I did a HIIT session this morning and logged it through Apple Watch as usual. Afterwards I noticed that Whoop identified the activity and logged it as HIIT as well marking “via Apple Watch” on the activity strain.
I’d like to better understand what this means. Does it mean Whoop takes the data (HR, cal, etc) gathered from Apple Watch?
