Stopped using Whoop - exit feedback

I’ve been using Whoop for years, and have always had the top tier subscription that has been available at the time, and I’ve even done the Advanced Labs bloodwork studies. And it has a lot of features that I absolutely love and appreciate. However, a couple of long-standing feature requests that Whoop just won’t implement have finally driven me away. I really do hope that Whoop starts listening to the users: there are more and more options available today.

The absolute non-negotiables for me that finally drove me away:

  • No custom journal entries: I do track many supplements and behaviors outside the supported list. Having to track these separately outside the Whoop app makes tracking some others in the app pointless: I had to have a separate solution anyway.
  • No support for external HR sensors: yes, I know you can’t just attach the Whoop device to a chest strap and expect it to work. But every other tracking solution supports additional external HR trackers, including chest straps with a separate sensor. I’ve bought every available Whoop accessory but getting a reliable HR signal just won’t work for all exercises, especially weight training.

I now have a home built system that takes in my Garmin data (yay, external HR sensors), has my workout plans and logs, has a completely customizable journal, can take all my bloodwork as well as DEXA scan data, and can ingest any trusted data sources for nutrition, supplements, and exercise into a single AI-enabled system. It has been a complete game changer after years of waiting Whoop to implement the basics.

What happened at Whoop? It is simply confusing, new exciting and advanced features, but somehow missing the basics?
