Since wearing a CPAP reduces your HRV how does Whoop add this into the configuration. I feel great in the morning using my CPAP and my resting heart rate is on point, but due to my low HRV my recovery is sometimes 38-45% even though I had 8 plus hours of sleep and those scores are high?
Hi @kevinwatson5,
Thanks for taking the time to write in and I’m going to share this with the product team.
WHOOP measures HRV with clinical-grade accuracy and consistency, using PPG and heart rate data. However, currently there is no way to adjust or configure WHOOP metrics specifically for CPAP use or how CPAP-related HRV changes are accounted for in recovery scores.
Your experience of feeling great and having a good resting heart rate despite lower HRV and recovery scores could be due to how CPAP affects HRV independently of your actual recovery status. WHOOP’s recovery score primarily relies on HRV, resting heart rate, and respiratory rate during sleep, but it does not currently have a feature to adjust for CPAP use.
If your recovery scores seem inconsistent with how you feel, it might be helpful to consider your overall trends and other metrics alongside recovery scores.
