I don’t know excactly how it will be implemented yet, so maybe I’m a bit too soon to judge. From now on Whoop will automatically estimate Muscle strain for certain activities. Since this cannot be very accurate in a few places I would appreciate it if you could show cardio and muscular strain seperately in the strain tab, maybe even make the estimation optional for users. My thinking is this: With cardio, it’s based on the heart rate so even if sometimes a little inaccurate, it’s easy to compare strains. Muscular load on top of cardio becomes increasingly hard to compare. It would help of course to plan recovery, but should be insufficient in comparing days. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!
Would a compromise possibly be to make segmenting the activities easier?
You get decent strain information if you track activities separately, however during a workout the band tends to lump everything into an “Activity” (or “Other”) class spanning the entire time. Because there’s no easy way to log outside of the app, you have to manually edit the activity to represent the segments, such as Cardio and Strength Training. Adding the ability to hit a button on a larger activity and “Add Segment”, drag a segmenting line across the HR chart, and then select the usual activity info would take a lot of the friction out of the process.
Also a great idea though it doesn’t really fix my issue. I’m more concerned with the daily strain estimate not being easy to compare. Because I think it makes sense to compare strength to strength and cardio to cardio, not both with each other.
