My Whoop 4 seamlessly paired with my Peloton tread. However, when I upgraded to Whoop 5, I have not been able to connect. Whoop 5 shows up on the Peloton list of bluetooth devices, but when I click on the appropriate device, the message I get is “Whoop 5 rejected the pairing.”
I’ve been able to pair with my iphone, but for some reason, the blue light sensor doesn’t seem to appear, even when I tap multiple times. I’ve checked the firmware, and I’m up to date. I’ve also turned my phone and Peloton off and restarted, but nothing seems to work. Whoop 4 was so easy, and I’m starting to regret this upgrade. Help!
Thanks for sharing the details. Here are some steps to help resolve the pairing and heart rate broadcast issue between your WHOOP 5 and Peloton Tread:
HR Broadcast Setting:
Open the WHOOP app on your phone.
Go to Device Settings and ensure that “HR Broadcast” is toggled ON. This is required for Peloton to receive your heart rate.
Disconnect Other Devices:
WHOOP can only broadcast to one device at a time. Make sure your WHOOP 5 isn’t connected to any other device (like your phone or another fitness device) when trying to pair with Peloton.
In your phone’s Bluetooth settings, “forget” any previous WHOOP devices, and ensure no other device is currently paired.
Restart & Reset:
Toggle HR Broadcast OFF in the WHOOP app, then turn your phone’s Bluetooth OFF. Wait a few seconds, then turn both back ON and re-enable HR Broadcast.
Restart both your phone and the Peloton Tread.
Pairing Mode:
To enter pairing mode, tap your WHOOP 5 sensor multiple times until you see the blue LED flashing. If the blue light does not appear, ensure your firmware is up to date (which you’ve already done) and try again.
If the blue light still doesn’t appear, try force closing and reopening the WHOOP app, then attempt to enter pairing mode again.
Peloton Pairing:
On your Peloton Tread, go to the Bluetooth heart rate monitor pairing screen.
Select your WHOOP 5 from the list. If you see “rejected the pairing,” try removing WHOOP from the Peloton’s list and re-adding it after following the above steps.
Distance & Interference:
Make sure your WHOOP 5 is within 10 feet of the Peloton and that there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby that could interfere.
