I’m running into a serious problem with my Whoop MG and I’d like to know if anyone has found a solution.
I switched from an iPhone 16 Pro Max to an iPhone 17 Pro Max. I unpaired the Whoop MG from the old phone (which is now powered off). On the new iPhone, the device is detected, but every attempt to connect fails with a generic error — no further context.
A few details:
The “pairing mode” with blue LEDs has never worked for me. The device is visible, but never enters that state.
I’ve tried just about everything: factory reset of the iPhone, deleting and reinstalling the Whoop app, disabling/re-enabling Bluetooth, forgetting the device, etc. No luck.
The iPhone clearly sees the Whoop MG (name shows up), but the connection always fails.
Has anyone else faced this problem and managed to solve it?
To Whoop support: please, no generic troubleshooting checklists — I’ve already gone through all of that. If there’s no effective fix, I will have no choice but to cancel my MG subscription and return the device.
Same. It is connected to blue tooth as a device but will not connect in the app. I tried to follow instructions elsewhere on here but I can’t get passed “unpair” because there is no “I” to do this.
I deleted the app again and tapping forever still only got me a blinking green light… Tapping forever and then some I finally got blue. It still took 2 tries with the blinking blue but eventually paired again.
It’s really not hard for Whoop to buy a new iPhone and test. I hope they respond to you both very soon. There were issues I reported with iOS26 that they never acted on until after the release date. You would think as a software company they would have had early access to the 17 to test. Another bad day for Whoops PR.
I am also expierxing the problem on the Iphone 17 Pro. I removed it from the old device and it is saying it is connected on the phones Bluetooth settings but no visible i to un pair it and restart. I have factory reset my phone and reset the network and Bluetooth settings and still not luck with getting the device it enter pairing mode. Hopefully there is a fix soon.
I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others.
When I switched from iPhone 16 Pro Max to iPhone 17 Pro Max, my WHOOP MG kept showing up in Bluetooth but would never connect. No matter what I tried (resetting phone, reinstalling app, toggling Bluetooth, etc.), it always failed with the same error.
Support “ghosted” my device ID so it wouldn’t auto-associate. That did change one thing. The MG no longer showed up tied to my account by default. However, the pairing still failed the same way.
What finally worked: after about 10 minutes of non-stop rapid tapping on the top of the MG (while off the wrist, after charging), it eventually decided to flash blue. Only then was I able to pair it successfully through the WHOOP app.
So in summary:
Ghosting helped reset the association.
The real breakthrough was finally forcing the MG into blue flashing mode, which took much longer and more persistence than expected.
This tapping process feels far from intuitive or reliable, and I’d strongly suggest WHOOP escalate it to product. It’s clear from other threads that more people are struggling with the same thing.
My issue is now solved, but I hope this saves someone else from the same frustration.
I’m experiencing the same issue. I’ve tried the trouble shooting tips a million times with no luck. I’ve found support to be incredibly unhelpful in the past so will likely cancel my subscription as well
I’ve experienced the same problem with the new iPhone 17 pro. I’ve had multiple discussions with support and no help. Cannot get it to “blue” To re- pair the device. This is so frustrating.
Ive requested a new device.
I followed someone’s suggestion (on this forum) of repetitive tapping while off wrist( this is a must!) and I finally got it to turn blue. You must do it for at least 20 sec on and off. It worked.
I then paired it and everything seems to be ok for now. I’m surprised support does not know this.
Thanks for the help!
I will mention this to whoop support because there are going to be so many people with this issue.
OK, so I did the continuous tap for a couple minutes, the light turned green probably 6 or 7 times - then it finally turned blue…. Used the suggestion from the harryboyle below and it worked!!!
