I have an aggregate app that pulls data from Garmin/Oura/Amazfit. The aggregate score v Whoop charts. Everyday whoop always seems to have a lower Recovery compared to the aggregate. 77 in whoop world would be green. I am still bummed I had a 100% sleep score but poor recovery on whoop, why ![]()
I can only speak about my own metrics, but recovery seems more closely associated with the previous day’s strain rather than sleep, which makes sense to me.
From my Strain & Recovery chart, you can see that on days with high strain, the following day’s recovery is lower:
Take this morning for example. I have a sleep performance score of 100% but a moderate recovery value because of yesterday’s exertion.
WHOOP Coach has suggested a “restorative day” with low strain in order to improve my recovery, so again this suggests that strain management is key when it comes to green recoveries. Sleep will be a factor of course, but perhaps not the key factor.
Yes my Strain is often high because of the poor HR when cycling. So yes this also can play a part but when ever I check why is says a percentage drop in HRV.
