Caffeine tracking

Would be fantastic if the whoop app could have a section to add your caffeine intake by the beverage. For example, I add a double espresso at 11am and it automatically adds ~180mg of caffeine at 11am to my total intake.

Given whoop’s heavy emphasis on sleep and recovery, this could be a fantastic feature which

  1. Allows users to understand their caffeine intake both in terms of frequency, total intake and timing.

  2. Allows the app to have more sensible data to be able to give suggestions to the user on recovery and sleep optimisation.

For example, if a user has caffeine at say 4pm - it may recommend sleeping a little later since the caffeine will likely still be in the system. It may also give warnings to the user to cut off their caffeine intake at a certain time based on their usual bedtimes/planned bedtime and use machine learning to tailor this specifically to each user. For example, some users may be very tolerant to caffeine and the whoop may be able to catch this over time and restrict their caffeine intake to, say, 10am and before.

I currently use an app called HiCoffee to track my caffeine intake (just for timing and total daily intake) - so the developers could use this as a sort of example and then build even further on it.

Hey @ilyaan08,

You might already be aware, but you can keep tabs on your caffeine intake right in the WHOOP app using the Journal feature. It’s super easy to log things like when and how much caffeine you’ve had, and over time, WHOOP will help you understand how it might be impacting your recovery and performance. I use it all the time.

You’ll find the Journal in a few spots. On the Home tab, in your morning reminder, or by tapping the little + action button in the app. You can log both the amount and timing of your caffeine, though just a heads-up.

This may not be as detailed as you are looking for but thought I’d flag it!

As you log consistently, WHOOP will show you personalized insights on how caffeine affects your recovery score and overall performance. And if you’re curious or want quick feedback, try asking WHOOP Coach.
